The wonderful librarian at the Morgan Library on 6th Avenue introduced me to this nonfiction gem. In Redwoods, Jason Chin folds an astonishing lesson about one of nature's most magnificent ecosystems into an adventure that begins, quietly and magically, on a subway platform. The illustrations are lush and immersive, and the science is as incredible as the trees themselves. A perfect gift for the endlessly curious child.
