I love the shape and color of The Little One, smaller than your typical picture book, black and white pencil drawings bordered by a beautiful green. The Little One is such a beautiful object, smaller than your typical picture book, the pencil drawings framed by a green border. Like Sato the Rabbit and Chirri & Chirra, The Little One was also originally written in Japanese and In this beautifully crafted book by Japanese author-illustrator Kiyo Tanaka, a young girl follows a small, unusual creature through a closet and into a magical attic filled with enormous roots and trees. I love the size and shape and color of it — all pencil.
