New Yorker writer and poet Alastair Reid spent decades collecting words — strange ones, beautiful ones, words that feel heavy in the mouth (galoshes, mugwump, crumb) and words that feel light (willow, whirr, spinnaker), words that read the same both ways, words that should exist but don't.
