Beatrix Potter's stories, originally written in 1901, are the only stories in our collection that three generations of my family — my mother, my brothers and me, and our children — grew up on. It's incredible to think of how they have endured. Niko and Theo were as captivated by Peter Rabbit's narrow escape from Mr. McGregor as I was, and as I imagine my mother was before me. Still, they'll cry out: Stop, Thief! — echoing Mr. McGregor's furious words as he chases Peter, hoe in hand, out of his garden. This beautiful collection gathers Potter's other indelible characters — Jemima Puddle-Duck and the sly fox, Mr. Jeremy Fisher, Benjamin Bunny, and Tom Kitten — into one beautiful volume.
