Gisele was born entirely of glass, her every thought and feeling visible. Beatrice Alemagna tells her story using both traditional pages and translucent vellum, so that at moments, we look through Gisele as we read. The illustrations are rich textured collage, dreamlike and surrealist and unlike anything else. A story about the particular vulnerability of being seen and the long journey toward being at home in yourself.
